I think we can all agree that we're getting our fair share of winter this year. As a result of the Christmas week wind storm that swept by us we lost part of our roof and it wasn't until we noticed the dining room ceiling leaking that we realized we couldn't patch it anymore. Farm Bureau came out, told us to replace the roof and we set about finding a company that could accomodate our need.
Our home sits atop English Mountain so we often get high winds and wanted to make sure that our new $10,000+ investement would last agood long time. My husband and I decided that if we could afford it, we'd go with a metal roof instead of shingle.
Since Newport doesn't have a strong business presence on the Internet it was nearly impossible to reasearch roofing companies online. So, I had no choice but to ask neighbors and refer to the Yellow Pages.
The first 4 companies I called were out of business, the fith company I called, Jay and Josh Roofing Company answered the phone on the first ring and were extremely professional but friendly. The woman I talked to, took our information and arranged for us to meet with the owner of the company for an estimate. By the time I was finished talking to her, I felt like she was an old friend who symapthized with our leaky roof crisis. So far, so good.
It got better.
Jay, the owner of the company, came out to give us an estimate. He went to the trouble of giving us 3 of them so that we could compare the costs of the different options. He spent a good amount of time with us explaining the differences, how he handled the installation, and we knew right then, he was our guy. He even climbed up on the roof in the pouring rain and patched our leak to hold us over while we waited for our materials to arrive.
Continuous bad weather prevented us from getting our new roof for about three weeks but last Friday, four nice clean trucks loaded with about 8 men showed up bright and early. Jay was right behind them! Our roof was on by the end of the day and not just our house roof, but the roof on our outbuilding as well. I should mention that our house if fairly large, about 4000 sq. feet. These guys had this roof on in less than a day!
They came back on Saturday to finalize the install put moldings on etc. Jay spent an hour talking to my husband about hte extras he installed to make sure we would have no problems. The extras included top of the line flanges, metal strips around our chimney with special leak proof moldings, metal finishes, the roof looks incredible. The service was outstanding and the prices were unbeatable. They cleaned up every single speck of their mess too.
I also want to mention that ALL of Jay and Josh Roofing Company employees are background checked.
This company gets our HIGHEST rating. THIS is how a business should be run!
